4. Attribution
Whenever Content is reproduced under a permission granted by this Legal Notice, the relevant attribution requirements must be respected.
For an artwork, the artist must be identified clearly and in reasonable proximity to the reproduction as:
Victor Teslaru
Where format and space reasonably allow, the preferred extended form is:
Victor Teslaru, [title], [year] — victorteslaru.com
Where a separate photographer, institution, archive or publisher credit appears on the Website, that credit must be retained in addition to the artist's attribution.
Removing or obscuring required attribution places the use outside the permission granted by this Legal Notice.
5. Linking and non-commercial sharing
Links to the Website and to individual pages or artwork records may be shared freely without prior authorisation or attribution.
Images of artworks may be reposted or shared for non-commercial informational, cultural or personal purposes without prior authorisation, provided the attribution required by Section 4 is retained. Where practicable, victorteslaru.com should also be identified as the source.
This permission is non-exclusive, royalty-free and limited to the uses described in this section. It transfers no copyright or other intellectual property right and does not extend to uses governed by Sections 10 or 11.
6. Press, journalism and editorial media
Journalists, newspapers, magazines, broadcasters, news organisations and editorial media may reproduce Content for which Victor Teslaru controls the relevant rights without prior authorisation, subject to the attribution required by Section 4.
This permission applies to genuine journalistic and editorial use in print, online publications, digital editions, television, radio, audiovisual reporting, documentary journalism, interviews, reviews, criticism, cultural reporting, news archives and editorial social-media channels.
It applies whether or not the publication is commercially operated, provided the use remains journalistic or editorial in nature and does not constitute advertising, product endorsement, merchandising or independent commercial exploitation of the artwork.
Editorial and technical adjustments necessary for publication — including resizing, proportional cropping, compression, colour-space conversion and placement within a layout — are permitted provided they do not materially misrepresent the artwork.
This permission covers continued access to legitimately published editorial archives. No renewed permission is required merely because a permitted article, review or interview remains available online.
This section applies only to rights controlled by Victor Teslaru. Material separately credited to a photographer, institution, archive, publisher or other third party remains subject to that party's rights.
7. Academic, educational and research use
Museums, public galleries, universities, schools, libraries, archives, researchers, curators, critics, historians, students and non-commercial cultural or educational organisations may reproduce Content concerning Victor Teslaru without prior authorisation for scholarly, educational, curatorial, documentary or research purposes, subject to the attribution required by Section 4.
This permission may include lectures, academic papers, dissertations, theses, classroom and conference presentations, teaching materials, research documentation and non-commercial institutional archives.
It may also include scholarly monographs and exhibition catalogues published by universities, museums or public cultural institutions, including where such publications are offered for sale, provided the publication remains scholarly or curatorial in character.
It does not extend to trade publications, commercially produced art books, paid image products or other primarily commercial publishing, which are governed by Section 10.
Requests for higher-resolution files, specialised archival material or additional documentation may be sent to victorteslaruart@gmail.com.
8. Exhibitions and institutional documentation
Museums, public cultural institutions and non-commercial exhibition organisers may refer to, discuss and document works by Victor Teslaru in connection with exhibitions, research or cultural programming.
Where an image of an artwork is reproduced in non-commercial exhibition documentation, wall texts, educational material, research presentations or institutional digital communication, the attribution required by Section 4 applies.
This permission does not extend to merchandise, posters offered for sale, commercial editions or other revenue-generating reproductions, which are governed by Section 10.
9. Texts and written material
Texts published on the Website may include artist statements, Journal entries, research notes, essays, working hypotheses, exhibition texts and captions.
Short quotations and references may be used in journalism, criticism, academic work and cultural discussion in accordance with applicable law and the permissions on this page. Victor Teslaru must be identified as the author where his text is quoted or reproduced.
Substantial reproduction of complete texts for commercial publication, commercial anthologies, paid databases or comparable commercial reuse requires prior written authorisation.
10. Commercial use
No general commercial licence is granted by this Website.
Commercial use of artworks, reproductions of artworks or other visual Content requires prior written authorisation for the specific use. Attribution alone — including the artist's name, a copyright notice or a link to the Website — does not make a commercial use permissible.
Prior written authorisation is required in particular for:
- commercially published books and trade art publications reproducing the artworks, where not covered by Sections 6 or 7;
- commercial exhibition or art catalogues;
- merchandise, posters, prints, postcards and reproductions offered for sale;
- clothing, textiles, accessories, packaging and product design;
- advertising, promotional campaigns, corporate marketing and branding;
- commercial social-media advertising;
- commercial film, audiovisual or promotional productions in which an artwork is used as licensed visual material rather than as part of genuine journalistic reporting;
- stock-image licensing and inclusion in commercial image libraries;
- NFTs, digital collectibles and comparable commercial products reproducing or derived from an artwork;
- any product or service whose commercial value is materially based on the reproduction or use of an artwork by Victor Teslaru.
Attribution remains mandatory where commercial use has been authorised unless a written agreement expressly establishes a different credit format.
Any authorisation applies only to the scope, medium, duration, territory and use expressly agreed in writing. It creates no general or continuing licence.
11. Artificial intelligence, machine learning and text and data mining
11.1 Position
Victor Teslaru welcomes serious artistic, technological and research experimentation involving artificial intelligence. The conditions below are intended to preserve transparency, authorship and control over the use of protected Content.
11.2 Reservation of rights
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Victor Teslaru expressly reserves rights in relation to text and data mining and comparable computational uses of Content for which he controls the relevant rights.
The public availability of Content on this Website does not, by itself, grant permission for artificial-intelligence training, dataset creation, fine-tuning, generative-model development or comparable computational reuse.
Technical or machine-readable reservation mechanisms may also be used by the Website. The absence, failure or non-recognition of a technical signal does not constitute permission where this Legal Notice requires prior authorisation.
11.3 Uses requiring prior authorisation
Prior written authorisation must be obtained before protected Content for which Victor Teslaru controls the relevant rights is intentionally used for:
- artificial-intelligence or machine-learning training;
- inclusion in training datasets or dataset creation for AI purposes;
- fine-tuning, model adaptation or generative-model development;
- embedding or feature extraction intended for model development;
- conditioning or reference-image workflows intended to influence generative output;
- systematic stylistic analysis intended for generative modelling;
- AI research involving reproduction or ingestion of protected Content beyond uses permitted by applicable law;
- comparable present or future computational processes intended to train, modify, condition or materially inform an artificial-intelligence system.
Any permission granted for research, experimentation or another limited purpose does not automatically authorise commercial exploitation.
11.4 Attribution and disclosure for authorised AI use
Where authorisation is granted, the applicable attribution, disclosure and documentation requirements will be stated in the written authorisation.
Unless otherwise agreed, any public documentation of an authorised use should identify Victor Teslaru and victorteslaru.com and should accurately describe the role played by artificial intelligence and by the authorised source material.
11.5 Search indexing
Ordinary search-engine crawling, indexing and caching of publicly accessible pages for navigation and retrieval purposes do not, by themselves, authorise any use described in Section 11.3.
12. Automated access, indexing and web archiving
Ordinary search-engine crawling, indexing, caching and legitimate web archiving of publicly accessible pages are permitted where they serve navigation, indexing, preservation or reference functions.
Where an indexed or archived interface displays an image of an artwork together with information about it, Victor Teslaru should remain identified as the artist wherever the surrounding metadata or interface permits attribution to be preserved.
Automated systems must operate in a technically reasonable manner and must not interfere with the security, availability or normal operation of the Website.
This permission does not extend to circumvention of security measures, access to non-public systems or information, malicious activity, or uses governed by Section 11.
13. Third-party material and photographic credits
The Website may include photographs, exhibition views, archival documents, publications and video material created or supplied by photographers, institutions, publishers, galleries or archives. Rights in such material remain with the relevant rights holder.
Nothing in this Legal Notice grants rights that Victor Teslaru does not control. The permissions on this page apply only to Content and rights he is entitled to license.
Where an artwork by Victor Teslaru appears in a photograph owned by a third party, the credit requirements relating to the artwork and those relating to the photograph apply simultaneously.
A rights holder who considers that a credit is missing, incomplete or incorrect may contact victorteslaruart@gmail.com so that the record can be reviewed and, where appropriate, corrected.
14. Artwork records, reproductions and the archive
Artwork records may include titles, dates, dimensions, media, series, inventory numbers, inscriptions, exhibition histories, contextual information, photographs and documentation.
The archive is subject to continuing research. Records may be supplemented, standardised, clarified or corrected as further documentation becomes available. Modification of metadata does not alter the authorship or identity of the underlying work.
The Website is a record of an active artistic practice and is not necessarily a complete account of every work, study or document produced by Victor Teslaru. The presence or absence of a work on the Website is not, by itself, a formal authentication determination.
Images published on the Website are digital reproductions of physical artworks. The appearance of an original work may differ from its representation on screen owing to photography, lighting, colour management, image processing, compression, display technology and device settings.
Details, installation views, studio views and work-in-progress photographs are documentary images and should not be interpreted as separate artworks unless expressly identified as such.
Reasonable efforts are made to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Website. Pages, texts, images, records, credits and metadata may be corrected, expanded, reorganised or updated. Temporary technical errors, incomplete information, maintenance periods and interruptions may occur.
15. External links
The Website may link to museums, galleries, publications, archives, institutions, social-media platforms and other external services.
These services are operated independently. Victor Teslaru does not control their content, security, availability or privacy practices, and the presence of a link does not make the external service or its content part of victorteslaru.com.
16. Privacy and cookies
Personal data and the use of cookies or comparable technologies are addressed separately in the Website's:
17. Governing law and changes
This Legal Notice and any permission granted under it are governed by Swiss law, subject to any mandatory law that applies.
The ordinary courts of Lugano, Canton of Ticino, Switzerland shall have jurisdiction to the extent permitted by applicable law.
If a provision of this Legal Notice is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain unaffected.
This Legal Notice may be updated to reflect changes in the Website, the archive, technical systems or applicable law. The version published on this page is the current version.

Where prior authorisation is required, it must be obtained before the relevant use takes place. No request is required for uses expressly permitted by this Legal Notice, provided all applicable conditions are respected.
